In our ever-evolving efforts to get our picky six-year-old to expand his palate, we asked him to be chef for a night. This morning his job was to plan a menu and make a shopping list.
Here’s what we have so far. Admittedly, this experiment is not off to a blazing start.
That said, he definitely wins points for enthusiasm. And his shopping trip also made it into the L.A. Times (“Wordless Wednesday” column) for his efforts, so that’s good for something, right?
He explained that “cake bred” is “you know, the main part of the cake…the bread…the part that’s not the frosting.”
I’d like some Christmas coloured chips too, please!
LOL – We had those in our cupboard for quite a while and I guess I threw them out. I suppose now that it’s November we’re going to start seeing them pop up in the stores once again.
Cheers,
Jeanne
This is awesome! I wonder if he plans on making bacon-wrapped hot dogs. Yumm. At least he incorporated a fruit and a veggie.
Thanks, Erika. In fact, we just got back from our shopping trip and both hot dogs and bacon were involved. We’ll see what develops!

What did he want the onions for?
LOL – I told him we needed onions so he added it to the list. But he wound up incorporating it into dinner – in the fruit plate, of all things! http://bit.ly/9sAKGQ
